Bob’s Discount Furniture Leases 750,000 Square-Foot Facility in Shorewood, Ill., to Support Chicago-Area Expansion

Connecticut-Based Furniture Retailer Prepares for Midwest Opportunities After Growing Rapidly Across the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic Regions

MANCHESTER, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Bob’s Discount Furniture has leased a 751,966 square-foot warehouse and distribution building in Shorewood, Ill., as it prepares to expand its growing retail furniture business into the Chicago area.

The Connecticut-based furniture retailer will take possession in April of the newly constructed state-of-the-art facility at the Heartland Corporate Center, located about 40 miles southwest of Chicago’s central business district, near the intersection of Interstate Highways 80 and 55.

Bob’s, the 14th-largest U.S. furniture chain, has opened nearly a dozen new stores across the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions during the past two years. But this new facility marks its first move into the Midwest.

“We’re delighted to secure this much first-class commercial space in such a desirable location,” said Bob Kaufman, Bob’s president emeritus and co-founder. “The facility will support our exciting expansion plans into the greater Chicago market”.

The transaction was brokered by real estate management firm JLL, which provided site selection, tenant representation, and business and economic incentive services.
