Bob’s Discount Furniture Celebrates New Springfield Store Opening by Donating $10,000 to Local Schools
Opening of Bob’s Third Pennsylvania Location This Year Brings Fast-Growing Furniture Retailer’s Total to 54 Stores
MANCHESTER, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Bob’s Discount Furniture today announced it will contribute $10,000 to local schools to celebrate the Oct. 9 grand opening of its newest discount furniture store, located in Springfield, Pa. The new store is the third Bob’s location to open in Pennsylvania this year, as the company continues to expand throughout the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
The new 35,000-square-foot Bob’s Discount Furniture store, located at 674 Baltimore Pike, is expected to add 36 new jobs to the local economy. It will be managed by Michael Wheat, who previously worked for the company as sales manager at Bob’s Wilmington, Del. and King of Prussia, Pa. locations.
When the new Springfield location opens next month, Bob’s will have 54 stores in 11 states (Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia).
“We’re thrilled to be expanding our presence in the greater Philadelphia area,” said Bob Kaufman, Bob’s president emeritus and co-founder. “We’ve been embraced by every community that we’ve entered here, and we’re looking forward to introducing Springfield and the surrounding communities to our great values on quality furniture – with no gimmicks and the same low prices everyday.”
A grand opening celebration for the new Bob’s Discount Furniture store will begin at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, with a ribbon cutting ceremony by local dignitaries and Bob Kaufman, and complimentary refreshments will be served from the store’s cafe. Grand-opening festivities – including balloons, face painting and other children’s entertainment – will extend through the Columbus Day weekend.
To show its commitment to the communities served by the new store, Bob’s began donating to area schools in September. By the end of the grand opening weekend, Bob’s will have donated a total of $10,000 to the following local schools:
- Cardinal O’Hara High School, $2,500
- Holy Cross School, $2,500
- E.T. Richardson Middle School, $1,000
- Sabold Elementary School, $1,000
- Scenic Hills Elementary School, $1,000
- Springfield High School, $1,000
- Springfield Literacy Center, $1,000
These donations come from Bob’s Outreach program, which helps support schools and programs for children in the communities where it operates.
